Stone Island SS 1986 Packable Nylon Steel.
The Stone Island Packable Smock from Spring/Summer 1986, designed by Massimo Osti, is a perfect example of what made the brand so ahead of its time. Made from a lightweight nylon in a steel-toned finish.
It’s fully packable — the entire jacket folds into its own front pocket, making it ideal for travel or unpredictable weather, a concept that was ahead of it's time back in the mid-’80s. The fit is relaxed and boxy, with wide sleeves, a quarter zip neck, and elasticated cuffs that give it a subtle sportswear-meets-military feel.
During this era, Osti often played around with badge placements. On this particular piece, the compass patch sits on the front pocket, breaking away from the usual sleeve placement.
